- Visit to Aberllyfeni slate cutting workshops (Yorini was impressed with the concept of using local stone for roofs)

Specific meetings & Visits

-  Centre for Alternative Technology, Wales

-  Survival International, London

-  Café Direct, London

-  Twin Trading, London

-  Soil Association, Bristol

-  The Eden Project, Cornwall

-  Kelmscott Comprehensive School, Walthamstow (Jaime gave a talk to students here)

Visit Outcomes

The immediate outcomes, apart from the list of visits and the information gleaned from these, has been the preparation of an integrated set of 5 project proposals.  The first of these has been taken back to Cutivireni for in-depth consultation with the community and has been submitted in draft form to the Rainforest Foundation UK.  It involves the establishing of an Ashaninka Producers association and capacity building and site visits to existing successful Perivian producer cooperatives and associations operating in organic exports.

The other 4 proposals represent some of the potential longer term outcomes; but they also require community consultation and further development.  Their focus is on:

- changing over to organic production
- environmental education
- sustainable agro-forestry management
- health issues.
